Isabel Benvenuti

I am a PhD candidate of Hispanic Linguistics in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at UCLA. My research focuses on syntax and language processing. I am interested in how bilingualism and multilingualism can inform linguistic theory, so much of my work focuses on second language and heritage language speakers. My current dissertation project explores intervention and similarity-based interference effects in native and second language Spanish speakers.

I am also committed to equitable and accessible education. When I'm not doing research or teaching, I spend time working with student organizations and serving on campus committees to advocate for more equitable, inclusive academic policy.
